"As I'm sure most women experience, pregnancy does very weird things to your body. Mine included. Being pretty athletic, I was very dedicated to maintaining a fitness regime throughout my pregnancy. Having a fused spine and two steel rods from childhood scoliosis surgery, however posed a few challenges that, with the constant help and instruction from Elizabeth, kept me super-flexible, in shape and very comfortable. I practiced prenatal yoga with Elizabeth through the duration of my pregnancy--through "round ligament" strains, weird back issues and of course, the balance issues that occur when you're carrying a 20 pound bowling ball in your abdomen. In addition, Elizabeth taught me positions and stretches that I could do on my own, say, in the bathroom at Bloomingdale's when I thought I was going to pass out!But that's not all--when I was in labor and my husband had to do a couple of things, it was Elizabeth who labored with me at the hospital, whether it was massaging my back or feet or helping me breathe. She will forever have a special place in my heart. And she gives much better massages than my husband.
When Sylvie was born, we were eager to learn infant massage techniques. I forgot to mention, our nickname for Elizabeth is the "Baby Whisperer." After a few lessons (with breaks for naptime, breastfeeding and so forth) and practicing on my own, Sylvie and I got in a routine and she absolutely loved her little massages. The techniques were especially handy in alleviating gas/constipation/tummy issues. Sylvie is 20 months old and to this day, sticks her feet in my palms for foot massages.
I look forward to working with Elizabeth again!!!!"

"I am a mother of twin girls and one of our daughters was diagnosed at 5 months with having an in-utero stroke that affected the left side of her body. The doctors indicated that she would have limited use of her hand and potentially would not walk properly. We had already started to see signs of her stroke as she was only using her right hand to hit things on the activity mat and never her left hand. We began physical and occupational therapy immediately but we wanted to do more. We were lucky enough to have Elizabeth in our life again. She brought to our attention the idea of baby massages and the wonderful effects it has on babies and children. Elizabeth worked with my daughter and me. She was wonderful and very patient in teaching me how to give my daughter the massage. It has worked beautifully and our daughter started to make improvements immediately. Her hand began to open up and her leg was not as stiff and tight. Our therapists were very enthusiastic with our approach and the progress our daughter was making. We are extremely lucky to have had Elizabeth work with our family and would recommend her to anyone as she is a wonderful and caring teacher who wants the best for all."

"Yes, pregnancy makes you think weird things and do weird things and feel weird things. So at 8 months pregnant, even though I had tried yoga before and found that it wasn't really for me, I accepted my husband's generous gift of prenatal yoga, figuring that any exercise that involved staying indoors sounded good. He thought that it would help me to mentally prepare for first time labor as well as to anaerobically maintain my pre-pregnancy strength. I was worried about fitting it into my schedule of law school and baby preparation. I was also concerned that it would be too easy because I am used to quite vigorous exercise. However, I soon added it to my list of things unexpected.
After my first session, I felt exceedingly relaxed. Though I was sore from head to toe, I felt simultaneously energized. I seemed to have more oxygen, better posture and fewer random aches and pains. Not only did I MAKE time for it in my schedule the next week, but I found myself looking forward to it. I was eager to feel the same relaxation and release of a week's worth of pressure. As my belly got bigger, I continued to look forward to our sessions, not only for the exercises and the opportunity to let someone else think for me for an hour and a half, but for the conversations with Elizabeth. She is easygoing, knowledgeable and caring. She asked all the right questions and let me ask all the wrong ones. She shared my immediate goal of relaxation and energy while keeping an eye on the prize of an easier, more graceful delivery.
While many factors go into a successful labor and delivery, I am certain that Elizabeth's training and encouragement helped me immeasurably in the months leading up to and including the mere 20 minutes of pushing I did preceding the arrival of my little bundle of joy."

"I started doing prenatal yoga pretty late in my pregnancy, when all of the pregnancy aches and pains set in. After working with Elizabeth, I wished I had begun my practice earlier.
I had never been much into yoga, preferring cardio & strength training workouts instead. But once I started working with Elizabeth, I found prenatal yoga to be a terrific addition to my regimen. As my pregnancy progressed, my muscles & joints got tighter & I got clumsier. Liz tailored every session to my needs. Paying special attention to my growing body, Liz would take me through a series of poses that would help keep me strong, but also ease tension and all those aches and pains.
Her sessions also helped me to build inner strength that I'd need to get through the delivery, as well as connect with my growing baby in a way I hadn't before."

"Elizabeth's guidance was enlightening for both me and my daughter. Learning to massage my newborn created an even stronger bond between us and offered me an additional way to make my baby feel great."

"After we checked into the hospital, I was given Pitocin to speed up the delivery. Since my water had first broken the previous night, we had 24 hours from that moment to deliver, in order to prohibit infection. The Pitocin was given at 10:30 am, and by 12:00 pm I was reeling in pain. I had had dreams of delivering without an epidural, but as the time went on, I was in excruciating pain. An epidural was administered around 12:15 pm, and at 12:30 pm our doctor arrived. She examined me and told me that the pain I had been experiencing was due to the baby crowning…we now had to wait to have the epidural wear off.
By 2:00 pm, our doctor came back and asked if we were ready….we were. I sat up in the birthing chair with my husband on one leg and the labor nurse on the other. As a group, we began pushing immediately at 2:27 pm. Together with steady pushes and balanced breathing, my beautiful baby boy was delivered into this world at 2:52 pm."
