
Get back into your exercise routine slowly and, of course, with your doctor/midwife’s permission. Postnatal yoga classes must be done with extra care, as the relaxin hormone, which increases flexibility in the joints during pregnancy, remains in the body up to 5 months post-delivery. On a physical level, these classes focus on strengthening stretched abdominal and pelvic floor muscles, increasing your energy, and getting your body back into shape. Emotionally, these classes give you a chance to talk about common concerns regarding your new role as a parent because no one can really prepare you for the radical changes that occur when your little one enters your life.
